More chocolate and festivals

Who remembers Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Everyone, right? I think it was Charley who nibbled on the chocolate bar to savor it. That’s me this week as I reach the last bite of the most amazing chocolate I’ve ever had. Well, maybe I don’t get around much, but after tasting Krishon Chocolate  at the Four Mile Farmer’s Market in Alexandria, VA, I spent the afternoon at the Green Festival where I had the opportunity to taste several other fair trade, organic chocolates and they just didn’t compare.  It’s kind of like that with coffee and wine too, I have to taste it next to another brand to be able to tell how much better one is than the other.  So, I had 2 packages of dark chocolate bark with raw cacao and after finishing the first package, I let Logan lick the wrapper. He apparently likes it as much as I do as he spent quite a long time on the licking and after pulling apart the plastic wrap and shredding it in to pieces, I finally took it away from him. After Logan and my 17 ounces of 72% dark chocolate from Trader Joe’s escapade in May 2009, I’ve learned that the dog chocolate scare is a bit overblown. Dogs can pretty much eat a milk chocolate bar and be fine, depending on their size, and can eat 4 ounces of dark chocolate per 45 lbs.  Still a good idea to keep it away from them, but a few bites here and there is ok.  The chocolatier, Eric, was selling the packages for $5 instead of the usual $7 because it was a week old.  I can only imagine how the fresh chocolate tastes.  Check out www.krishon.com to try it for yourself.
